How Chartbuddy Accesses Your Google Slides
Understanding how you grant permission to specific presentations
Focused Access for Your Security
Chartbuddy is designed with your privacy in mind. Instead of asking for access to your entire Google Drive, we use Google's drive.file
permission. This means Chartbuddy can only interact with the specific Google Slides presentations that you explicitly choose and authorize.
How You Grant Access
You grant Chartbuddy access to a specific Google Slides presentation when you perform actions like linking a chart or using the Google Picker within our application. Here's a typical flow:
If the extenion is opened and it does not have access to the current presentation, you will be prompted to grant access.
The picker will only show you the file you're currently editing.
Hit select.

Once authorized for a specific file, Chartbuddy can then perform actions like inserting or updating charts within that presentation using the Google Slides API.
What Happens Next?
After you've granted access to a specific file:
- You only need to grant access once per presentation.
- You can always manage and revoke permissions. Read more.
