Reporting automation in 2026: Chartbuddy Hub vs Rollstack vs Slideform vs UpSlide.
A monthly financial report, QBR, investor update or ad report can rebuild itself from new data. Here is how Chartbuddy Hub compares with Rollstack, Slideform and UpSlide.
The short answer
Reporting automation means your recurring deck rebuilds itself from new data: charts, numbers, slide titles and commentary, in your template and your brand. You review it. You don't rebuild it.
In 2026 there are two ways to get there.
- A reporting platform that connects to your BI tools and warehouse and produces decks for you. Rollstack and Slideform work this way.
- A charting and template layer for the AI agent you already use. Chartbuddy Hub works this way. You upload your template once, ask Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Claude Desktop or Antigravity to pull this month's numbers, and Hub updates the charts, titles and key insights in PowerPoint or Google Slides in one go. Chartbuddy for PowerPoint or Chartbuddy for Google Slides™ has to be installed so the charts land on the slide and stay editable.
- Chartbuddy Hub fits if your team already works with an AI agent and wants native, editable consulting-grade charts (waterfalls, mekkos and stacked bars) in PowerPoint or Google Slides. Hub is free. The deck editors include 10 free sessions, then Pro is EUR 10 or USD 12 per seat per month.
- Rollstack fits data teams that need governed, BI-connected reporting at scale, such as one QBR template sent to hundreds of clients on a schedule. From $833 per month, billed yearly.
- Slideform fits agencies and RevOps teams that want an AI analyst plus templates across decks, docs, sheets and email. From $200 per month for 200 slide updates.
- UpSlide fits Windows-based finance teams that live in Excel and PowerPoint and want reliable Excel-to-slide links. Quote-based, minimum 5 licenses.
Why recurring reports still eat days
The deck looks the same every month. Only the numbers and the story change. Yet most teams still rebuild it by hand.
The usual loop goes like this. Export data from the ERP, Snowflake, HubSpot or Google Ads. Paste it into Excel or Sheets. Rebuild or re-link every chart. Rewrite every slide title so it matches the new numbers. Fix the fonts and colors that broke on the way. Then check it all twice, because one stale number in a board deck costs more trust than the whole report earns.
The pattern repeats across almost every recurring deck.
- Monthly financial report (CFO pack). Actuals vs budget vs prior year, a P&L bridge, a variance waterfall and three lines of commentary per slide.
- Quarterly business review (QBR). Customer usage, pipeline, renewals and outcomes, usually one deck per account.
- Investor updates and board decks. KPIs, burn, runway and cohort charts, sent monthly or quarterly.
- Ad and channel performance reports. Spend, CPA, ROAS and conversion by channel, campaign and week, often per client for agencies.
The chart and the commentary are the slow part. That is the part reporting automation has to solve.
The three ingredients of automated reporting
Every automated report needs the same three ingredients, plus something that puts them together.
- The template. Last month's deck: the slide order, layouts, chart types and the shape of the story.
- The data. This month's numbers, from Snowflake, BigQuery, an ERP export, Google Ads, HubSpot or a spreadsheet.
- The brand rules. Your house colors, fonts and number formats, so nothing needs fixing afterwards.
The assembler is where tools differ. Classic linking tools (Excel-to-PowerPoint links) refresh the numbers and leave the titles and commentary to you. Reporting platforms run their own AI and data connections. An agentic setup lets the AI you already use do the data work, while a dedicated tool guarantees the output: real charts, the right template, the right brand.
That last part matters more than it sounds. Ask a general AI tool for a chart and you usually get a flat image or a generic chart that breaks your template. A report you cannot edit is a report you rebuild by hand next month.
How Chartbuddy Hub automates a recurring report
Chartbuddy Hub is a free desktop app for Mac and Windows. It connects locally to your AI agent and holds the two things an agent cannot guess: your report templates and your brand settings. One prompt refreshes the whole deck. Chartbuddy for PowerPoint or Chartbuddy for Google Slides™ receives the charts on the open deck.
- Install Hub and connect your agent. Point Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Claude Desktop or Antigravity at Hub. The connection is local, so chart data is processed on your machine.
- Set your brand once. Organization colors and fonts live in Hub, so every chart matches your house style.
- Upload your template. Drop in the PowerPoint or Google Slides deck you rebuild every month: the CFO pack, the QBR, the investor update, the channel report.
- Prompt your agent. For example: "Refresh the CFO monthly report with March actuals from Snowflake. Compare to budget and prior year. Rewrite each slide title around the biggest variance." Your agent pulls the data from wherever it lives. Hub supplies the template, the brand and the chart engine.
- Open the finished deck. Charts, titles and key insights land in PowerPoint or Google Slides in one go. Layout, chart types and branding stay as they were. Only the numbers and the story change.
- Edit anything. Every title and text box is normal slide text. Every chart is a native Chartbuddy chart you reopen on the slide to change axes, labels, colors, annotations or CAGR arrows. The data stays attached, so next month you refresh the same deck.
What makes this different
- You keep the agent you already use. No new platform to learn and no separate prompt box. You keep the agent, models and data access you already trust.
- Consulting-grade charts. 14 business chart types, including waterfall, mekko, stacked and 100% stacked bars, combo, scatter and bubble. Built by two ex-Monitor Deloitte consultants.
- PowerPoint and Google Slides. Same charts in both decks. Install Chartbuddy for PowerPoint or Chartbuddy for Google Slides™.
- Local by design. Hub has no Drive access, and Chartbuddy stores account information, not your chart content. SOC 2 Type II.
- Free to start. Hub is free. The PowerPoint and Google Slides editors include 10 free sessions, then Pro is EUR 10 or USD 12 per seat per month. See pricing.
Chartbuddy Hub vs Rollstack vs Slideform vs UpSlide
All four automate recurring decks. They differ in who runs the AI, where the data connection lives, what the charts are and what you pay. Details as published on each vendor's site in October 2026.

Tool by tool: strengths, trade-offs, best fit
Chartbuddy Hub
Hub is built for teams that already do their analysis with an AI agent and deliver in slides. The agent does the data work. Hub makes sure the output is a real deck: your template, your brand and charts a consultant would sign off on.
- Strengths. Works with the AI you already use. Native, editable charts in both PowerPoint and Google Slides. 14 business chart types, including waterfall, mekko and stacked bar, with growth arrows. Data stays on your device. Free to start, then EUR 10 or USD 12 per seat.
- Trade-offs. Hub does not connect to data sources itself, so your agent needs access to the numbers. You trigger a run from your agent. Hub has no built-in scheduler.
- Best for. Consultants, strategy and FP&A teams, founders and growth teams who want a monthly report, QBR or investor update refreshed in one prompt.
Rollstack
Rollstack is an enterprise reporting platform. It connects to your BI tools and warehouse, uses its own Data Agents to build decks, and can produce a tailored version for every client, region or brand on a schedule. Lineage, approvals and BI permissions are built in.
- Strengths. Deep BI integrations, governance, audit trails and large-scale distribution.
- Trade-offs. Priced for data teams (from $833 per month, billed yearly) and demo-led. Charts come from your BI layer, so chart quality depends on what your dashboards can draw.
- Best for. Data and BI teams pushing governed dashboards into executive and client decks at scale.
Slideform
Slideform pairs template automation with an AI agent called the Analyst. You map placeholders in a branded template, connect sources, and the Analyst fills charts, metrics and bullet points, then exports or schedules decks, docs, sheets, PDFs or emails.
- Strengths. Broad output formats, many CRM and marketing connectors, pricing by slide volume instead of seats, a REST API.
- Trade-offs. Usage-based pricing grows with slide count. You work in Slideform's platform and AI.
- Best for. Marketing agencies, customer success and RevOps teams producing many similar client reports.
UpSlide
UpSlide is a Microsoft 365 add-in for financial services. Its Excel-to-PowerPoint link refreshes hundreds of linked tables, charts and text cells in one click, and it adds brand control, a content library and AI consistency checks.
- Strengths. Reliable Excel and Power BI links, strong brand compliance, proven in banks and advisory firms.
- Trade-offs. Windows and Microsoft only, with no Google Slides. Minimum 5 licenses plus a setup fee. The numbers refresh. Rewriting titles and commentary is still your job.
- Best for. Investment banks, PE and corporate finance teams whose models live in Excel.
How to choose a reporting automation tool
Answer these questions and the choice usually makes itself.
| Question | If yes, look at |
|---|---|
| Does your team already work in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Claude Desktop or Antigravity? | Chartbuddy Hub |
| Do you need waterfalls, mekkos and other consulting-style charts that stay editable on the slide? | Chartbuddy Hub |
| Do you deliver in Google Slides as well as PowerPoint? | Chartbuddy Hub, Rollstack or Slideform |
| Must every number be traced back to a governed BI dashboard, with sign-off before sending? | Rollstack |
| Do you send one template to hundreds of clients on a fixed schedule? | Rollstack or Slideform |
| Do you also need Docs, Sheets or email outputs from the same workflow? | Slideform |
| Is everything already modeled in Excel on Windows, in a bank or PE firm? | UpSlide |
| Do you want to start today, without a sales call or a yearly contract? | Chartbuddy Hub |
One rule of thumb: if a data team owns the report, a platform fits. If an analyst, consultant or founder owns it, an agent plus Hub is faster and cheaper.

Stop rebuilding last month's deck
The template, the data and the brand rules already exist. What was missing was something to put them together without breaking the deck. Reporting platforms like Rollstack and Slideform do that inside their own cloud, with their own AI. Chartbuddy Hub does it with the AI agent you already use, on your own machine, with charts you can still edit on the slide.
Try it on your next recurring report.
- Download Chartbuddy Hub for Mac or Windows. Hub is free.
- Add Chartbuddy for PowerPoint or Chartbuddy for Google Slides™.
